About this coloring page

The mermaid’s tail has rows of big scales, which makes it fun to color in a pattern: try teal and purple in alternating rows, or fade from light at the top to dark at the fin. Her long hair is split into separate locks, so it can be one color or a whole ombre.

Use warm sandy colors and soft grays for the rocks, then give the seashells pinks, peaches and creams. Blues and greens for the waves and seaweed tie the seaside scene together.

Things to talk about

  • What would you see if you could swim under the sea?
  • Which sea creature would be the mermaid’s best friend?
  • How many seashells can you find on the page?

Coloring tips for parents & teachers

  • Print on regular paper for crayons and colored pencils, or thicker paper for markers.
  • Younger kids? Let them color the big shapes first, then add details together.
  • Free for home and classroom use — print as many copies as you need.
